We all have events that propel us forward. Most of those in my life have been some sort of breakdown. In that moment, I could either get lost in what has gone wrong or try some cliff diving and see what is possible.
My journey to working at home has been a series of serendipitous events punctuated by a little crisis. The day before Barack Obama was elected President of the United States, my husband was laid off. We were completely unprepared and essential had no clue. The bottom had fallen out of the building market and my husband was just one of the many casualties. In that moment, we, my husband and I began reinventing ourselves. Up until this point, I had been a housewife and mother. Necessity moved both of us in what might seem like new directions, but the truth was that we were already doing those things, just not making money doing it.
My reputation with my friends has always the can do person, a cliff diver of sorts, as long as we did not take ourselves to seriously. I was the person to have in your creative corner. My friends created an opportunity for me to work at home and support them in their ecommerce businesses.
This was the beginning of the Amazing Pod. The configuration of laughter, friendship and fun seem counter to doing business. But in truth the more fun we have, the more work we get done and the less work time is needed. Our business meetings are barely recognizable as such. This is our kind of business. Sharon's Introduction Post
I am excited to be a contributor to this eScape9too5. The founder Sandy had an inspired idea to share with the world through the e-media what it's like to live off the 9to5 grid. We are planing to enjoy the crap out of this and we hope anyone who is along for the ride is having as good a time as we are. Some times the best plan is to show up with no plan at all and see what shows up. So far we have found that a lot of laughter and inspiration magically appear when formal plans are let go. There is no better motivation than having a good time "working". This is often frowned upon in the ordinary 9t05 experience. Join us and laugh along while we inspire each other and perhaps you as well.
